Horse Kill Pens

I've been contemplating the thought and process of a horse kill pen. I am an animal lover, and hate to see any animal suffer. There are such places called KILL PENS. These are where horses get shipped that cannot sell and the seller wants to dump the horse off somewhere. You can purchase a horse out of the kill pen(as I am in the process of right now). Is this considered rescuing? I'm not sure. It sure feels like it. Most of these horses are extremely neglected and need urgent care. I think of it two ways. Of course my emotional side comes out first. 1. These poor horses need to be saved, they need loving homes, and care they need. These horses dont deserve this. and 2. Its the circle of life, and these horses provide food for other animals, byproducts, and different countries are considered a high dollar "steak". So is it correct to say they KILL PENS are terrible? I think that is every person's opinion. However, I think the way they treat the animals while they are there is terrible. Even though their life is ending, it is not fair to treat a live animal abusively.
